Interview with Lydia Beaumont in Hearts that Survive – A Novel of the Titanic:

  • What’s the number one quality you’d require in a mate?

A man who is fun, adores me, makes me laugh and makes me feel free from the oppressive constant watch of society, servants, guards, my father, and all, the one who cannot believe that I won’t eventually belong to him.

  • Where is the best place you can think of to find a mate?

The place is of no consequence – it’s in that moment when the eyes meet and the heart knows.

  • Where is the worst place you can think of to find a mate?

The venue selected by my father or … my constant “guardian”

  • What type of character traits are you attracted to?

Now that I know him, I’m attracted to his artistic, sensitive nature and the fact that he is writing a poem to, for, and about me. How could I not be overwhelmed?

  • What’s the one habit or lifestyle that would make you run the other way?

One who tries to control me and make me conform to society and all it’s rules

  • Where do you dream of getting married?

Only one place: The Grand Staircase on the most magnificent ship ever built: the Titanic

  • Where do you dream of spending your honeymoon?

In the arms of my beloved.

  • What would be the best gift a potential mate could buy for you?

Unquestionably, a toy train – but he wouldn’t have to buy it, just give it.

Knights Bride by Yvonne LehmanYvonne Lehman 4

About the book – Knight’s Bride: Take six romantic adventures back in time to the Middle Ages along with five authors including Tracie Peterson, who tell the stories of couples challenged by the injustices of their times. Some couples are pulled apart by wars and feuds, while others have their futures determined by their oppressors. Can a faith be found to keep hope alive and give joy in all circumstances?

Question for readers: If you’d lived back in the days of society rules, would you have been a rule follower or a rebel?

Come back Nov 23rd for Darlene Franklin!
