Hi, my name is Chelsea Riehl, and I’m so excited to be here today talking about romance! I just love romance. Besides that, I organize and cater events, and I simply love weddings. My sister got married a few months ago and wow. Weddings are simply the best thing. Ever.

  • Are you open to your own romance?

Oh, yes! I’m 26 now and have just moved from Portland to northern Idaho to join the Green Acres team. My sister met an awesome local man (a widower, so sad. 🙁 ) who owned a health food store, and they’re so happy together. I’m really ready to meet a great guy, fall in love, and live happily ever after!

  • Where is the best place you can think of to find a mate?

I haven’t dated much since Robert and I broke up a couple of years ago. I was hoping, at first, to meet another man in my family’s social sphere in Portland, but, well, it didn’t happen. And besides, I always thought I’d be a great asset to the Green Acres Farm and I really believe in their organic philosophy and teamwork. So I’m hoping to meet someone here. There’s a single guy at the farm now, but frankly, he’s not even in the running. I mean, he looks like a hippie, he goes on missions trips, and he talks funny. Oh, wait, you didn’t ask about guys I’m not interested in.

  • What type of character traits are you attracted to?

Hmm. Loyalty. Someone who could love me just the way I am. Not that I’m perfect, of course, but the right man wouldn’t try to change me.

  • What type of features are you attracted to?

Not somebody who had long hair and a beard and looked like a hippie, I can tell you that. Anyone heard of haircuts around here? And razors. Seriously.

  • What’s the one habit or lifestyle that would make you run the other way?

I could list ten, probably, without coming up for air. All I need to look at Keanan Welsh and everything he is, and that’s what I don’t want. I just… I shouldn’t even get started on this topic. Sorry.

  • Where do you dream of spending your honeymoon?

A five-star all-inclusive resort in Hawaii or Mexico. Or hey, a cruise would be pretty sweet!

  • What would be the best gift a potential mate could buy for you?

Is it shallow to say jewelry? Probably best to give me boutique gift cards, though. I know what I want, and I don’t really trust anyone else to pick it out.

Reading back on this interview, I feel so shallow. I want your readers to know that I’m a Christian, so of course it matters that the man I fall in love with should share my beliefs. And, between you and me, yes, my spiritual life could use a shot in the arm. I don’t know how to get God to speak to me and seem like He’s relevant. I know He loves me. I mean, He loves everyone in the world, right? But sometimes I wish He loved ME just a bit more. I don’t know. You were asking about my hopes for a human romance, so that’s what I answered. At least it seems possible to get the attention of a nice man. God? That’s harder.

About the book – Plum Upside Down:

Topsy-Turvy… or Right-Side Up?

Green Acres newcomer Chelsea Riehl is annoyed. After all, she signed on as an event planner, not to pit plums alongside the mission-minded hippie Keanan Welsh, the only other single on the farm.
Discouraged by Chelsea’s lack of spiritual depth, Keanan is confused when she offers to arrange meals for the church Alpha program he is co-hosting. Maybe he misjudged her, after all.
When fake it ’til you make it gives way to a leap of faith, both Chelsea and Keanan have some soul-searching to do. Will getting on the same page spiritually be enough to flip their budding romance right-side up?
