In my latest release, The Captive Heart, heroine Eleanor Morgan marries a man she’s never met. Samuel Heath marries only for the purpose of having a mother for his young daughter. It’s a recipe for disaster . . . until love strikes. Here’s an inside peek at their love life.

  • Eleanor, what’s the most romantic present your hero ever bought you?

I hope you won’t be shocked, but you did ask the question. When I first arrived in Samuel’s home, I came empty-handed, for my satchel had been stolen on the trip abroad. Samuel made a special trip into town just to purchase me some necessaries, namely a new set of stays.

  • What is it about Samuel that melts your heart every time?

That’s an easy one. Whenever he picks up little Grace and swings her around until she giggles, I can’t help but smile myself. He’s so big yet so gentle. I hope Grace grows to know what a special father she has.

  • How soon after meeting Samuel did you know he was the one for you?

Well, I admit that at first I thought him a beast. I wanted nothing to do with the man, but I had no choice in the matter, not really. We didn’t exactly hit it off those first several months. I suppose he kind of grew on me, and I on him, after we had no choice but to rely on each other. But if I had to name a moment, it was the day he took the punishment meant for me, and he took it without complaint. That’s when I knew.

  • Samuel, Eleanor’s answered several questions, so on to you. What’s the most romantic thing Eleanor’s ever done for you?

**rubs his hand across his jaw** What kind of fool question is that?

  • Er. . . okay, let’s try a different one. How did you know Eleanor was the woman for you?

She was the one Mr. Beebright dragged back from Charles Town.

  • Umm. . . not exactly the answer I’d hoped for, but the third time’s a charm, eh? What is it you love about your wife, sir?

**slips her a sideways glance, a smoldering gleam in his eyes** There’s this . . . believe it or not, the woman’s got fire in her soul, and Lord help the man that stands in her way. I admire that about her, for she knows what she’s about.

About the book – The Captive Heart:

The wild American wilderness is no place for an elegant English governess.

On the run from a cruel British aristocratic employer, Eleanor Morgan escapes to America, the land of the free, for the opportunity to serve an upstanding Charles Town family. But freedom is hard to come by as an indentured servant, and downright impossible when she’s forced to agree to an even harsher contract—marriage to a man she’s never met.

Backwoodsman Samuel Heath doesn’t care what others think of him—but his young daughter’s upbringing matters very much. The life of a trapper in the Carolina backcountry is no life for a small girl, but neither is abandoning his child to another family. He decides it’s time to marry again, but that proves to be an impossible task. Who wants to wed a murderer?

Both Samuel and Eleanor are survivors, facing down the threat of war, betrayal, and divided loyalties that could cost them everything, but this time they must face their biggest challenge ever . . . Love.
