  • Where is the most romantic place you and your spouse have ever been?

We love visiting the Texas Gulf Coast, and the town of Port Aransas. The place has palm trees, miles of beach, and it helps us slow down and focus on each other and relax.

  •  What’s the most romantic present you ever bought your spouse?

One year for Christmas, I bought him an outdoor fireplace that we keep on our front porch. There’s many a cool night when we light a fire and enjoy a cup of coffee or hot chocolate.

  •  What simple gesture does your spouse do that melts you every time?

He makes breakfast, including a cup of coffee just the way I like it. This breakfast includes fried potatoes topped with cheese and an egg over easy, and toast with jelly. We’re so busy it’s nice to have the occasional morning when we take life slow.

  •  How soon after meeting you did your spouse know you were the one?

It was years. We knew each other for several years before we started dating, and we’d only dated about a month before he proposed. The night he proposed, the question really did “pop” out.

  •  Who is most romantic, you or your spouse?

Although I’m a romance writer, I’d have to say he is. He thinks of the sweetest, most thoughtful things to say and do for me. I truly lose count. It can be a simple bunch of flowers, a dessert for us to share.

  •  What is the most caring thing you’ve ever done for your spouse?

He recently had surgery in October, and his incision is on his back. Part of it has been very slow to heal, and I don’t mind caring for it. At 11:00 one night, I realized we’d run out of bandages and I had to make a quick trip to Walgreens for more supplies. He felt bad that I needed to do that, but I didn’t mind. I vowed in sickness and in health.

About the book – Tempest’s Course: Kelly Frost, a textiles conservator, is invited to the Massachusetts coastal town of New Bedford to restore a 150-year-old Mariner’s Compass quilt, with one stipulation: she must live and work in Gray House where the quilt is stored. Tom Pereira, whose heart seems as hard as the rocky coastline, is the caretaker employed by the mysterious absent owner of Gray House.

Over the long-lit months as Kelly works to restore the quilt, she is drawn out of her self-imposed shell and embraces the family God has given her after her own family failed her. As Kelly reads stories in a journal penned by Mary Gray, she learns there is no transgression beyond God’s forgiveness, but the real obstacle is forgiving herself. During her and Tom’s journey to grace and love, an unknown force works to keep both of them from discovering a long-buried truth that will change their lives forever.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting! Yes, we do love that outdoor fireplace. Although Texas with its fickle weather is almost 80 degrees here today — maybe this coming weekend, though, we’ll have cool enough weather to light the fireplace. 🙂

I think is is very normal to be able to forgive others and struggle forgiving ourselves. I know enough about quilting to really appreciate all of the work that goes into it. I would love to read Tempest’s Course:
