Shannon here: Black Lyon Publishing author, Lisa J. Lickel shares a romantic interview about her real life romance. Leave a comment to win a copy of her book, Meander Scar, on any post dated Nov 1 – 5. Deadline Nov. 6, 8:00 PM Central. Here’s Lisa:
1. What’s the most romantic thing your spouse has ever done for you?
My husband likes to garden, and one year he planted beets in the shape of a big heart. And he hung freshly washed cloth diapers on the clothesline, much to the jealousy of my neighbor ladies.
2. Do you and your spouse have a favorite romantic restaurant?
We enjoy a drive through the Kettle Moraine State Forest to get to a tiny little berg with the most fascinating restaurant called Fin n Feather. It has great wildlife scenes, a fabulous garden overlooking a little stream and wonderful food. Mmm…my birthday’s coming up.
3. Do you and your spouse have a favorite song?
Well, not a particular song, but when we’re together we usually like to listen to the late great John Denver.
4. How soon after meeting your spouse did you know he was the one?
It was probably two years after we first met. He was a year ahead of me in college and, let’s say, fresh off the farm. But very sweet. It wasn’t until we’d done a couple of projects together and I saw him do a humorous skit, straight-faced, at a Christian Fellowship group we belonged to that I started to get interested. When he asked me out the first time it was pretty easy to say yes. By the second date I was a goner.
5. Where did you and your spouse go for your honeymoon?
I had visited Jackson Hole with my family a couple of years before I dated my husband and thought the area was wonderful. I wanted to stay at the lodge, and my husband agreed to splurge on a night since we camped most of the rest of the trip.
Lisa and her husband Bill celebrated their 27th anniversary this year. They have two grown sons and daughters-in-law.
