Carla Olson Gade wedding

  • What’s the most romantic thing your spouse has ever done for you?

Marry me again, after years of divorce. The Lord did a wonderful thing in our lives by bringing us back together. My husband’s obedience to that was the most romantic thing ever.

  • Where did you and your spouse go for your honeymoon?

To the coast of Maine. While there we were sitting on a bench and he hugged me. When I looked up, over his shoulder I couldn’t believe my eyes. I beheld a huge patch of Lily of the Valley, our wedding flower. It means “the return of happiness.” What an unexpected surprise, just as our being reunited.

  • Do you and your spouse have a favorite song?

God Bless the Broken Road…and He did!

  • What simple gesture does your spouse do that melts you every time?

I have to say that when my husband interacts with our new grandbaby. It is so endearing to watch, but what really gets me is that we are together as a family to enjoy such precious moments.

  • What’s the most romantic thing your hero ever did for your heroine?

Joshua Sutton forsakes others for the welfare of Honour and stands up on her behalf, just like a true hero!

  • What’s the most romantic present your heroine ever bought your hero?

Honour purchases a gift for Joshua’s birthday. It’s a small carved wooden bodkin case. She doesn’t think of it as especially romantic at the time. But her little sister wants to encourage the relationship so she slips in a secret note unbeknownst to Honour.

  • What’s the most romantic present your hero ever bought your heroine?

He redeems a special item that belongs to her and presents it to her at the end of the story in a very romantic moment. I can’t say what it is though…you’ll have to read to find out.

  • What is the most caring thing your hero has ever done for your heroine?

When Honour is caught in a hailstorm and collapses in the street, Joshua sees her and comes to her rescue. He scoops her into his arms and brings her to shelter where they spend their first intimate moments together.

About the book – Pattern for Romance:

Sometimes God’s pattern for our lives can lead us somewhere unexpected.

Honour Metcalf’s quilting needlework is admired by a wealthy customer of the Boston mantua-maker for whom she works. In need of increasing her earnings, she agrees to create an elaborate white work bridal quilt for the dowager’s niece. A beautiful design emerges as she carefully stitches the intricate patterns and she begins to dream of fashioning a wedding quilt of her own.

When Honour is falsely accused of thievery and finds herself in a perilous position, merchant tailor Joshua Sutton, comes to her aid. Joshua risks his relationships, reputation, and livelihood to prove her innocence but even that might not be enough.
